Explore Movies is a movie and TV search app. This page explains what information the app handles and how.
There is no account system. You never create a username, password, or profile to use this app.
Favorites, Watch Later, star ratings, and personal notes you add to a title are saved only in this app's local storage on your device (iOS's standard UserDefaults). This information is never sent to our server or to any third party, is not backed up to iCloud, and is not tied to your identity in any way. Uninstalling the app or using "Clear Everything" in Settings deletes it permanently.
Searching, browsing, and viewing movie/show details send a request to our backend server (a search/database service we operate) to fetch the matching results. These requests include only what's needed to return results — your search text and selected filters — and do not include any personally identifying information, since the app has no accounts. Our server logs standard technical request information (IP address, request path, timestamp, response time) for operating and troubleshooting the service; these logs are used only for that purpose and are not sold, shared, or used for advertising.
Movie/TV metadata, poster images, and streaming-availability information are provided by The Movie Database (TMDB). This product uses the TMDB API but is not endorsed or certified by TMDB. Poster and provider-logo images are loaded directly from TMDB's own servers, which may log standard request information (such as your device's IP address) the same way any image request on the web does — see TMDB's own privacy policy for how they handle that.
This app contains no advertising SDKs, analytics SDKs, or third-party trackers of any kind. We do not sell or share your data because we do not collect any data that identifies you in the first place.
This app does not knowingly collect personal information from anyone, including children, since it has no account system and stores personal data (favorites, notes, ratings) only locally on-device.
If this policy changes, the "last updated" date above will change accordingly.
